I am writing this blog to reflect on my writing process for my research paper
I worked with my sister in helping me develop a successful research paper, yes this approach was helpful and useful. The rhetorical mode I used was ethos because I mainly talked about the Italian culture and traditions that they share with each other. I wrote this last week , but had to revise it a couple times to do more research. I wrote this project at home in my office so I could concentrate more. I choose to write about this topic because , after viweing Micheal Moore;s video I was convinced that Vacation law that Italy has could change peoples way of being more family oriented if there were more time to do so.

The movie "Where to Invade Next" by Micheal Moore is about Micheal Moore "Invading'' different countries to see if their laws are better than in the U.S. Micheal Moore uses persuasion to the readers to adopt the laws of other countries than seem more happier and peaceful. After he invades the countries he puts a American flag down , to represent bringing other countries methods back to the U.S.
Topic: Free education Research Question: Should America provide free education for citizens? Argument: America should provide free education to citizens Topic: No arrest for drugs Research Question: Should America not arrest for drugs? Argument: I think America should arrest people for drugs Topic: Emphatic methods in dealing with prisoners Research Question: Should America use less harsher ways to punish people who are in the prison? Argument: America should have emphatic and effective ways in dealing with prisoners In the documentary Where to Invade Next, Michael Moore travels to different parts of the country to see what laws or methods they use and what the U.S could learn from the other countries.
How does Michael Moore establish ethos? Micheal Moore uses rhetoric to convince his audience that change needs to be made in the United States if they want to have a happy and peaceful world. He uses ethos when he "invades" Italy , he meets with a couple who talk about how they have 8 week paid vacation time. The couple then talk about traditions and their culture of what is the norm for them. Micheal Moore uses pathos when he is talking about the prisoners in Norway and how they are treated better than in the U.S . He shows video of prisoner treatment in the U.S that could bring you to tears when watched. Micheal Moore uses telos by ending with having his audience question why doesn't the U.S adopt the laws as the other countries he "invaded". The kairos of the film is telling his audience that there are other methods to handling certain situations and we could benefit from learning the other methods to make the world peaceful. The purpose of this blog is to reflect on why I choose the topic that I did for my Life-Choice Memoir. I never did a reflection of my work before this class , so my professor provided a video of what a reflection actually is. The Reflective Writing video has shown me what I needed to know in order to reflect on my choices with my writing and to analyze my process that I used to compose my writings. I choose to work on my life choice Memoir alone because , I did not tell the truth of what happened in my Life Choice memoir to my family. I think this was a good approach because I did not have to hide anything when telling my story. I wrote wrote my Life- Choice Memoir with two drafts and having the second draft as my final result. I wrote this project at the library near my job on my lunch break so I could really think about what I wanted to portray to my readers. I choose my topic because this was a topic that really changed my mindset on how people can be towards each other in a negative way. It has shaped me to be stronger individual and to speak up when there can be wrong doing. I feel ok , I do regret the decision I made now that i think about it. At the time I felt so strong willed to do what is right, but as I got older I realized the truth isn't always the best for yourself in certain situations and sometimes its just best to stay quiet and observe and have a back up plan. In this case a back up job . I will use more descriptive words to pull the reader in and make more of a point. Here is a link to my life_choice_memior.docx .
In the story Hills like White Elephants (Ernest Hemingway) a girl and American man are at a train station to Madrid, Spain. During this wait a converstaion unfolds about whether or not the couple should go through with abortion so they can return to their lavish materialistic lifestyle.
Life Choice Does she stay in her relationship with the man? I think she goes through with the procedure to have the abortion to please her boyfriend but leaves him as she is annoyed and unsure with him because of his lack of a real response. She questions if things will be the same or if he will even still love her. She realizes waiting for the train that she no longer wants this fake and materialistic lifestyle that they have been living. She wants to be alive and enjoy all the good around her. Also she realizes how different the couple’s perspective are with the mention of how the hills looked like white elephants, she was only looking at the beauty of the nature and the American man could careless or even noticed the beauty that surrounded them and what they could be giving up with going through with the abortion. Making Connections When have you made an important choice to stay in a relationship or leave a relationship -- OR -- stay or leave a difficult situation? I remember when I was with my older son’s father this was my first real relationship to have with someone. We were only together for a couple months before I became pregnant with my son, at first the relationship was perfect he cared for me like no one else has ever cared and loved me. After I had my son he changed drastically, he became mean and shellfish. I was the only one providing for my son with working doubles. My son’s father than began to smoke weed which soon led to more drugs and depression. He just was sinking into despair and hopelessness more every day. I then decided that I did not want my son to be around that kind of behavior or have me associated with it because It could put my son and my life in danger and I would not allow that to happen. He was locked up for possession, I was to pay his bail but instead I went to visit him to let him know that I was not going to be dragged down any longer with him. I wanted to be happy and my son deserved so much more than what he was showing us. It was a tough decision but I did not feel bad or guilty cutting all ties from my son’s father, my only sadness came in with my son maybe not having a father growing up.
