The purpose of this blog is to reflect on why I choose the topic that I did for my Life-Choice Memoir. I never did a reflection of my work before this class , so my professor provided a video of what a reflection actually is. The Reflective Writing video has shown me what I needed to know in order to reflect on my choices with my writing and to analyze my process that I used to compose my writings. I choose to work on my life choice Memoir alone because , I did not tell the truth of what happened in my Life Choice memoir to my family. I think this was a good approach because I did not have to hide anything when telling my story. I wrote wrote my Life- Choice Memoir with two drafts and having the second draft as my final result. I wrote this project at the library near my job on my lunch break so I could really think about what I wanted to portray to my readers. I choose my topic because this was a topic that really changed my mindset on how people can be towards each other in a negative way. It has shaped me to be stronger individual and to speak up when there can be wrong doing. I feel ok , I do regret the decision I made now that i think about it. At the time I felt so strong willed to do what is right, but as I got older I realized the truth isn't always the best for yourself in certain situations and sometimes its just best to stay quiet and observe and have a back up plan. In this case a back up job . I will use more descriptive words to pull the reader in and make more of a point. Here is a link to my life_choice_memior.docx .

These are readings from three different authors that explain their own writing process and thought process and how they accomplish successful writing. Teach Writing as a Process Not a Product (Don Murray)
“Writing is primarily not a matter of talent, of dedication of vision, of vocabulary, of style but simply a matter of sitting. The writer is a person who writes.” “Don’t look back. Yes, the draft needs fixing. But first it needs writing. " “We have to respect the student, not for his product, not for the paper we call literature by giving it a grade, but for the search for truth in which he is engaged.” The Daily Writing Routines of Great Writers (Maria Popova) “A writer who waits for ideal conditions under which to work will die without putting a word on paper.” “A writer takes earnest measures to secure his solitude and then finds endless ways to squander it.” “ Write to finish one section at a time, for good and all.” Bird by Bird: Some Instructions on Writing and Life (Anne Lamott) “Writing can be a pretty desperate endeavor, because it is about some of our deepest needs: our need to be visible, to be heard, our need to make sense of our lives, to wake up and grow and belong.” “Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts.” “Beginners are learning to play, and they need encouragement to keep their hands moving across the page. My Quotes “The first draft is the beginning to your story” “Your thoughts will help you create on a blank canvas.” “ Get lost in your dreams for they are what will be portrayed on paper.” |
